Happy New Year!

Well, here it is:  2021.  The year that so many have been looking forward to after a year that seemed to be both an eternity and a speck in time.  I remember growing up and feeling that the days seemed to last forever.  It seemed forever until my next birthday, or until it was FINALLY Christmas day, or until the last day of school and summer break. Now it seems the opposite:  the seasons grow shorter, birthdays and Christmas fly by, family members get older in a blink of an eye.   Time is an interesting thing in the Montessori classroom, mostly because it is broken down into a three hour work cycle where children find their own routine and rhythm.  It's been interesting over the last few months to watch the children as they fall into their own individual routines.  Some come in ready to go straight into work and stay in that pace all day.  Others come in needing to wander around for a bit before settling into a snack.  At first they...
